Maguire released following hearing in Greece

The Reds captain Harry Maguire was released from Greek custody Saturday.

Maguire was seen wearing a baseball cap and mask leaving the courthouse on Syros island.

Manchester United’s centre-back has a hearing set for Tuesday but he is not required to attend.

The 27-year-old England international left the court building in an unmarked van after pleading not-guilty. Maguire along with two other defendants are facing charges of assault, resisting arrest, verbally insulting and threatening the arresting officers.

According to reports four Mykonos officers were injured trying to break up a fight on Thursday.

Manchester United released a statement saying “Following the appearance in court today we note the adjournment of the case to allow the legal team to consider the case file.”

Maguire’s lawyer Constantinos Darivas told Greek sports website gazetta.gr his client is in “fine condition” despite spending two nights in detention.

The island of Syros, the administrative hub of the Cycladic island group which includes Mykonos will hear the case.

The Red’s captain is expected to be ready for pre-season training which starts in two weeks.

The Premier League season starts next month. (JSL)
