Two Men Have Charged For The Death of Eight-Year-Old Boy In Tameside

An eight-year-old boy-Safiullah Asif died after a collision on Ryecroft Street in Ashton-Under-Lyne. Two men have been charged for dangerous driving after the death of the boy.

Kevin Jones of Gorseyville Crescent, Wirral has been charged for causing the death of the boy by dangerous driving and causing death whilst unlicensed and uninsured. Thomas McGrath of Gorton Road, Stockport also has been charged for causing death by dangerous driving.

On 23 July 2020, police got a report for a collision involving a car and pedestrian in Ashton-Under-Lyne. After the officers attended to the scene, the eight-year-old boy was found with fatal injuries. Even medical treatment, Safiullah Latif Asif died tragically after the collision.

Rachael Finnigan, whose son Riley was best friends with Safiullah, said: “Safiullah would always come out of school with a smile on his face. My son always told me the things that he had done to make him laugh and smile. He was such a bright, happy little boy and he was very popular in school.”
