Two Man City players have tested positive for COVID.
Winger Riyad Mahrez and defender Aymeric Laporte are self-isolating in accordance with Premier League and UK government protocol.
The club says that neither player is displaying symptoms of the virus.
The positive tests means their availability for City’s opening match of the EPL season is now in doubt.
The Blues issued a statement saying: “Everyone at the club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their return to training and the new season.”
Both players took to social media in response to the fans support.
Laporte said “Thanks everyone for your messages, everything is going as well as possible, I am following the protocol for the next few days and I will be back soon, take care of yourself.”
Mahrez said “Thank you for all the nice messages, I’m good. Stay safe everyone take care of you.”
City will start their EPL campaign on September 21 on the road against Wolves. (JSL)
