Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug driving during a day-long traffic operation in Bolton.
Operation Vortex took place across the district on 11 April 2022 with a vehicle check site at Moses Gate Country Park.
Operation Vortex sees officers from GMP’s Specialist Operations Branch deployed to proactively target drivers and vehicles to make Greater Manchester’s roads safer for all who use them.
In total across Bolton yesterday, 56 traffic offences were recorded including 32 traffic offences and 24 speeding offences. In addition to the two arrests, six vehicles were seized.
The two male drivers arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Inspector Joseph Barron, of GMP’s Safer Transport Team, said: “Making Greater Manchester’s roads safer is a priority for us – in 2021, 71 people died as a result of road traffic collisions.
“Hopefully, yesterday’s day of action in Bolton builds public trust and confidence that we are committed to keeping people safe on our roads.
“Operation Vortex will continue across all of our Greater Manchester districts and we will take appropriate action against drivers who break the law.”
