Trafford’s Job Clubs Triumph as a Resounding Success

A scheme introduced by Trafford Council to assist local residents in finding employment has proven to be a remarkable success. Launched in various locations across the borough in September 2023, these job clubs provide support to individuals seeking job opportunities, apprenticeships, training, and volunteering positions. Currently, there are seven job clubs in operation, having already aided 111 residents, with at least 11 of them successfully securing employment. The clubs offer assistance in various areas, including job search and applications, accessing opportunities within and beyond Trafford, apprenticeship guidance, CV writing, interview preparation, and using social media for job hunting. Additionally, residents can also obtain information on training, education opportunities, and digital support. The job clubs meet on a weekly basis at different locations, allowing residents to drop in during the designated time slots. The Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, Cllr Liz Patel, expressed her delight at the job clubs’ effectiveness, emphasizing the Council’s commitment to helping residents find employment and alleviate poverty. These job clubs greatly rely on the invaluable assistance of dedicated volunteers, who generously donate their time to support fellow residents in their job search endeavors. With several volunteers already on board, the job clubs are always looking for more individuals interested in becoming volunteers. For further information on the support available, individuals can contact the Council via email at employment@trafford.gov.uk or by calling 07977 717239.
