Title: “Woman Dies After ‘Serious Assault’ in Bury: Murder Investigation Underway”
An investigation into a murder is currently underway in Bury after a woman died following a ‘serious assault’.
The woman, aged 55, passed away in hospital yesterday (Monday) after being attacked at a property on Pear Avenue two days prior. Police were called to the scene at approximately 9.35pm on Saturday in response to reports of a ‘disturbance’.
Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder inquiry. A 31-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both individuals are currently in custody. The attack is believed to have been targeted.
This morning (Tuesday), police officers and forensic investigators remain at the scene on Pear Avenue. A cordon has been put in place around the front of a property.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis stated:
A murder investigation is now underway following the tragic death of a lady in her home. We have arrested two individuals, but I would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information that could assist with our inquiries.
In particular, any local residents who may have witnessed anything suspicious during this time or who may have any dash cam / CCTV or doorbell footage from the time of the incident.
There is no reason for the public to be concerned, as we believe this was a targeted attack.

In a statement, a spokesperson for GMP said:
Greater Manchester Police have initiated a formal murder investigation after a woman tragically died following a serious assault in Bury.
At approximately 9.35pm on Saturday 16 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a residence on Pear Avenue, Bury.
Emergency services attended the scene where a 55-year-old woman was found unconscious and subsequently transported to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of healthcare professionals, she sadly passed away on Monday 18 September 2023.
A 31-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody for questioning.
