Local artists are being encouraged to pick up their paintbrush, fire up the kiln and get snapping with a camera – or even their phone – for a chance to be part of this year’s Oldham Open.
The ever-popular exhibition, which is held every two years, is returning to Gallery Oldham from Friday, September 20 and runs until November 23.
Previous events have included around 300 pieces ranging from drawings, paintings and photographs through to ceramics, sculptures and textiles.
As usual, all the art on display will be the work of Oldham residents.
Want to be part of it? What are you waiting for? Get your entries in and it could soon be on display in one of the borough’s most popular venues.
Visitors will be able to vote for their favorite piece which will win the People’s Prize.
Some of the work is also for sale so it is an ideal opportunity to pick up a gift or an early Christmas present for an art lover.
Councillor Peter Dean, Cabinet Member for Thriving Communities and Culture, said: “If you live in Oldham then this is your chance to show your work to fellow Oldhamers and visitors from further afield.
“The Oldham Open is all about celebrating the creativity and talent we have in the borough, by showcasing work by a wide range of artists with different interests.”
You can submit work – along with a completed entry form – between September 7 and 9 at the Gallery Oldham reception desk (between 10am and 4pm daily). Entry forms can be downloaded at
Anyone wanting to submit work that may have special requirements, such as a large, heavy sculpture or a video installation, should contact the gallery by September 6 to discuss installation at galleryoldham@oldham.gov.uk
