Four Boroughs See Rises: The Latest Infection Rates In Greater Manchester

Coronavirus infection rates are rising in four boroughs across Greater Manchester. The latest figures of Public Health England showed that the infection rate of Greater Manchester is now 44.7 per 100,000. This is still higher than the national average of England that is 27.8 per 100,000.

The infection rates have risen in Oldham, Manchester, Salford, and Trafford. Last week, a total of 1267 people tested positive for COVID-19. That means the infection rate increased 9% across Greater Manchester.

Oldham

Oldham still has the highest infection rate in Greater Manchester. According to the latest figures, the infection rate of Oldham is 60.3. There is an 8% increase in the infection rate comparing the previous week.

Manchester

Over the last week, there were 316 positive tests in Manchester. The latest infection rate of Manchester is 57.2. Like Oldham, the infection rate of Manchester has increased by 8 %.

Rochdale

A total of 120 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Rochdale. With a 17 % decrease, the infection rate is 54 in Rochdale.

Bolton

Bolton still has one of the highest infection rates in Greater Manchester. In the previous week, Bolton recorded 140 coronavirus cases that are 23 fewer comparing the previous week. The latest infection rate in Bolton is 48.7 and there is a 14 % decrease in the figures.

Wigan

With a 10% decrease, the infection rate is 42.9 in Wigan. In the previous week,141 positive tests were recorded in Wigan. The infection rate of Wigan is still higher than the national average.

Salford

With a rise of 16%, the infection rate is now 39 cases per 100,000 in Salford. A total of 101 cases were recorded in Salford last week.

Trafford

There is a 5% increase in cases in Trafford and the infection rate of Trafford is now 35. According to the latest data,83 positive coronavirus cases were recorded the previous week.

Stockport

The number of cases in Stockport is down by 25% that the infection rate is now 34.1. There were 100 positive coronavirus cases in the borough that is 33 fewer than the previous seven days.

Tameside

A fall of 40% was reported for the infection rate of Tameside. The infection rate in Tameside is now 32.7 per 100,000. There were 74 recorded cases in the borough that is 50 fewer than the previous week.

Bury

Bury has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester. The infection rate is 25.7 cases per 100,000 people in Bury. A total of 49 positive tests were recorded in the borough that is 39 fewer than the previous week.
