Share your opinions before the grand £6.6 million revival of Ashton-in-Makerfield begins

Residents, visitors, and commuters in Ashton-in-Makerfield have been invited to share their thoughts on the town centre as it prepares for regeneration. The #OurFutureAshton plan, which received £6.6m in funding, aims to improve the town’s streets, provide support for local businesses, and revive the historic market square as a public space. The local council, in collaboration with the community, hopes to gather feedback before and after the works to assess the impact of the investment. Aidan Thatcher, director of place at Wigan Council, expressed excitement about the project and its potential to attract more visitors and support existing businesses. The survey, available online, will focus on various aspects of the town centre experience, such as safety and community spirit. For those who prefer in-person assistance, drop-in workshops will be held at Ashton Leisure Centre and Ashton Library. The survey will remain open until Monday 26 February.
