Staying put

Paul Pogba will remain at Old Trafford according to agent

Midfielder Paul Pogba is staying in Manchester for the near future.

His agent Mino Raiola told Sky Sports recently that he expects the club to discuss a contract extension with the Frenchman very soon.

“Pogba is staying at Manchester United and I think they want to extend his contract,” said Raiola. “He is at the centre of an important project, they will not accept any bid for him this summer.”

The 27-year-old has a year left on his current contract with the Reds.

Pogba spent most of this past season on the bench nursing an ankle injury appearing in only eight matches prior to the Premier League pause due to COVID.

Since the return of the season though Pogba seems to have developed great chemistry with Bruno Fernandes.

The two were pivotal down the stretch in helping Man U finish third and return to the Champions League this upcoming season.

The 2018 World Cup winner has played four seasons in Manchester after an £89.3 million move from Juventus.

“We will negotiate for an extension very calmly, without stress,” Raiola said. “We will continue our talks.”

Man United will begin their quest for the Premier League crown on September 19 when they face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. (JSL)
