February 2024 brings exciting news for Marple’s Leisure and Community Hub!

The proposals for the Marple Community & Leisure Hub received a grand total of 758 responses from local residents and community groups. Throughout the consultation process, the council made a promise to carefully consider and analyze all comments received, using them to inform the next stages of the hub’s design. After collating and analyzing the responses, we are now able to share the progress and changes to the scheme on the Council’s Consultation website.

You can find the updated plans for the Marple Community & Leisure Hub attached below. The planning application for the project will be submitted in early March, accompanied by a statement of community involvement. Additionally, a detailed LUF Engagement Report will be published on the council newsroom, providing an analysis of all resident comments and our responses. This report will also be available on the council website for residents to review the process.

Excitingly, we have appointed Willmott Dixon Construction Limited as the Main Contractor for the design and construction of the new Marple Leisure and Community Hub. As part of the pre-commencement works, Willmott Dixon will be conducting surveys around the site. This may result in temporary closures of Marple Memorial Car Park, for which we apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Please note that from 29 February to 3 March 2024, Marple Library will be temporarily closed to the public in order to conduct a ground investigation survey. The library will resume its usual operations on 4 March 2024.
