‘Any of Us’ council fostering film project receives prestigious accolades

A powerful short film called “Any of Us” has been recognized with two prestigious awards this month. The film aims to inspire individuals from all walks of life to consider becoming a foster carer for their local authority. Trafford Council, which provided funding for the project, was also involved in its creation. The film won the “Best Collaboration” and “Best Creative Comms” categories at the comms2point0 UnAwards, an event that celebrates excellence in public sector communications. The film project, which involved over 80 council fostering teams from across the UK, was shortlisted in five categories. Its message is simple: anyone can foster a child or young person if they have the capacity to care. The UnAwards judging panel praised the campaign for its resourcefulness and ability to address common challenges. According to The Fostering Network, there is a need for 7,200 foster carer families in the UK within the next year. However, the number of foster carers working for local authorities has decreased by 11% since 2019, according to Ofsted. Cllr Karina Carter, Trafford’s Executive Member for Children and Young People, expressed the importance of collaboration and highlighted the need for more individuals to step forward and become foster carers. She encouraged those who are interested to find out more about becoming a foster carer in Trafford.
