Life Imprisonment With A Minimum Of 23 Years For The Murder of A Man In Bolton

Following a murder in Bolton, Crown Court at Minshull Street has sentenced a man to life imprisonment with a minimum of 23 years.

The victim of the murder was at a fish and chip shop in Harwood when Christopher Walton (12/12/96) approached him on July 13, 2020. Walton attacked the victim at the outside of takeaway and kicked him repeatedly and stomped on the head of the victim. After the attack, Walton walked away from the scene and leave the victim unconscious in the street.

Christopher Hardman, the victim of the murder, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries including a brain injury and fractured bones. Until July 21, 2020, he remained in critical care in the hospital. He sadly passed away on 21st July 2020.

The investigation for the murder was launched by police officers and Walton was arrested for the suspicion of murder. On 20 January 2021, the court decided life imprisonment with a minimum of 23 years to him.

Duncan Thorpe, Senior Investigating Officer of GMP’s Major incident Support Unit, said” This was an incredibly vicious and brutal attack, and has ultimately resulted in a man losing his life. We (GMP) and the public of Greater Manchester will not tolerate this senseless behavior. Although today’s result cannot bring Christopher back, I hope we have been able to bring some justice to his family who are suffering immensely from this loss and gives Walton the time he needs to reflect on the consequences of his despicable actions.”
