Racing driver and motorsport entrepreneur Matty Street is set to showcase some of the region’s and the country’s greatest racing talent as part of a major new documentary.

Matty, who owns TeamKarting indoor race circuit in Rochdale is the executive producer on new TV series ‘Driven Dreams’, an 8-part series following the journeys of 17 young karters.

The series is being developed in collaboration with Street Star Studios UK and will follow the drivers over the next 8-10 months as they compete in Matty’s ‘Cadet Kart Championship’, which sees young karters racing at tracks all over the country. Filming will also take place at TeamKarting, following Matty’s own role within the championship.

The ‘stars’ of the show are being finalised in the coming weeks, after interested drivers were invited to apply to be featured as part of the production. Some drivers are completely new to the sport, with others being experienced karters moving their way up in the industry.

The series, sponsored by Optimum Motorsport & Alchemy Car Products will be aired on mainstream channels and streaming services towards the end of the year.

Matty Street explains; “This is a show made by racing drivers, for racing drivers and it’s our chance to shine a light on the huge amount of motorsport talent we have at grassroots level in the UK.

“There are a lot of myths surrounding the sport, including the belief that karting is only possible with a huge budget, but the stories we’ll share show that this isn’t the case. The drivers we’ll introduce have a diverse range of stories, but each share a total commitment to racing – you’ll see drivers who have missed a relative’s wedding, a father who quit his job to be able to travel for his son’s kart events, people make real sacrifices for karting, which is their passion.

“Motorsport has been part of my life for as long as I can remember and it’s the most inclusive, welcoming environment in which to live, work and thrive and I’m looking forward to encouraging even more people into the best sport in the world.”
