Belgian voted in by pro footballers around the world

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne continues to earn accolades for his tremendous 2019-20 season.

The 29-year-old is now part of the FIFPRO World XI.

It’s just one of many awards the Belgian is taking home from a tremendous last season in which he tied the Premier League record for assists with 20.

His other awards for last season’s play include UEFA Midfielder of the season, Premier League Player of the Season, and PFA Player of the Year.

“It’s a great honour to be recognised in this way by other professionals,” says De Bruyne.

“I go out every game trying to set the example for the guys around me.”

“The aim is to use this individual success and turn it into more trophies and titles with both club and country.”

His manager Pep Guardiola says having an ace like De Bruyne is an incredible asset.

“His vision, speed of thought, the detailed way he sees the game, and his technical quality mean he possesses everything a top midfielder needs to excel.

“We are lucky to have him at Manchester City,” says Guardiola.

Players around the world select one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three strikers for the all-star team.

The 11th spot goes to the player with the next highest number of votes.

This year’s 11 includes Allison Becker as the keeper.

The defenders are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alphonso Davies, Virgil van Dijk, and Sergio Ramos.

The midfielders picked were De Bruyne, Thiago Alcantara, and Joshua Kimmich.

Finally, the three strikers were Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

De Bruyne is the first City player ever to be part of the World 11. (JSL).
