Armed Police Across Stretford and Wytenshawe: A Huge Investigation for Organised Crime

Police are investigating an organised crime across Stretford and Wythenshawe. So far, four grenades and three guns have been found.

Greater Manchester Police said nine people were arrested at the addresses. Residents were evacuated from their homes for the investigation.

According to GMP, two grenades were found on Friday on Taylor’s Road with a man. A firearm and two other suspected hand grenades also were found the day before in Milton Close, Stretford.

Det Supt Danny Inglis thanked the local community and said ‘We appreciate there has been a significant police presence in the local area over the past couple of days which has no doubt caused disruption and we’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as our inquiries continue.

He also said, “Due to the nature of the items that have been recovered, colleagues from the British Army are supporting us with our inquiries as it’s vital that we take all the necessary precautions to protect the public.”
