Stretford’s ongoing metamorphosis advances through enhancements in public spaces

Stretford is undergoing an exciting makeover as the first phase of public realm improvements in the town centre reaches completion. Trafford Council, in collaboration with partners, is dedicated to enhancing the town for the benefit of locals and businesses alike.

In line with these improvements, the Council is undertaking work at the Kingsway and Barton Road junction to create a safer and more eco-friendly environment for cyclists, drivers, and pedestrians. This project aligns with Trafford Council’s commitment to reducing health inequalities and addressing the climate crisis.

One section of the Kingsway footpath has already been finished, offering new footpaths, seating areas, greenery, trees, and sustainable drainage systems. Work on the other side of Kingsway has just begun and will bring further enhancements to footpaths, including the creation of new pedestrian crossings and cycle lanes.

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, expressed her enthusiasm for the transformation of Stretford town centre, stating that the new road designs for Kingsway are splendid and will improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. These improvements also complement the ongoing redevelopment work at Stretford Mall.

Exciting developments are unfolding in Stretford, and the town centre is set to become truly remarkable once all the work is completed.
