Sharon and Bev defy conventions by marking 11 years of fostering

Oldham Council is urging LGBTQ+ individuals to consider the joys of fostering during National LGBT+ History Month. Sharon and Bev, a same-sex couple, have been fostering with the council for over a decade, proving that love and acceptance are the most important factors in providing a safe and loving home for children in need. The council emphasises that LGBTQ+ individuals often possess unique qualities that make them excellent foster carers, as they understand the importance of creating a safe space for children who have faced discrimination or prejudice. Sharon and Bev encourage others in the LGBTQ+ community to consider fostering, highlighting the training, support, and financial benefits available. To learn more, contact Oldham Fostering Service or visit www.oldham.gov.uk/fostering. Let’s celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes, and give children the loving homes they deserve.
