Public Appeal for Information After Attempted Abduction Incident in Chadderton
On Saturday, 29th July 2023, the police received a report concerning an attempted abduction that took place in an alley near Rose Street, close to the South Chadderton tram stop, between 9 pm and 10 pm.
According to the report, a woman was walking with her child when an unknown male approached them. The man proceeded to grab the child, but he quickly let go and fled the scene. Fortunately, the child sustained only minor injuries during the incident.
In addition to this incident, the mother also informed the authorities that a similar occurrence had taken place in the area earlier in July.
The police are now urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly about a man described as Asian, of medium build, dressed in dark clothing and dark shoes. He was wearing a jumper with a Nike tick and had his face partially covered with a balaclava.
In response to the incident, the neighbourhood officers have increased patrols in the area, with beat officers and PCSOs closely monitoring the surroundings.
