Police renew appeal for witnesses after 2 arrested in connection with a fatal Road Traffic Collision in Hindley

Investigators are renewing their appeal for witnesses to a fatal Road Traffic Collision which occurred around 9:40pm on Friday 5 November 2021, on Ladies Lane in Hindley.

Katherine West was 59 years old when a Black Peugeot 3008 collided with her as she crossed the road.  The vehicle didn’t stop.

After sustaining serious injuries, Katherine sadly died almost 6 weeks later.

This morning, 31 August 2022, officers have made two further arrests in connection with the collision.  A 33 year old male and a 26 year old female currently remain in custody.

PC Phil Drummond of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to the community for their help.

“Whilst arrests have been made, we’re keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, has dash cam footage, or has any information, to contact us – you can do so in confidence.  This occurred on bonfire night, in a busy area which may help jog some people’s memories.”

“We’re also appealing to garages and body repair companies who may have repaired or been approached to repair a black Peugeot 3008 with front end damage, to get in touch”.

Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741.

Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
