Police Emergency Plan Was Out of Date When Manchester Arena Attack Happened

Manchester Arena attack inquiry has been continued and it is reported that the police emergency plan for Manchester was out of date when the attack happened. Katrina Hughes, the emergency planner said that the emergency plan was out of date before the Arena attack on 22 May 2017 that killed 22 people.

As a part of the regular plan, the emergency plans should be reviewed every three years. Katrina Hughes said in her statement that “ it is an unachievable task to review all plans before they expired”. She also said that she talked about that issue with a senior officer in 2016 but they couldn’t do any improvement.

The officers said June 2013 plan was updated in December 2017 that seven months after the attack. The inquiry has been continued on the attack that suicide bomber Salman Abedi that killed 22 people and injured a lot of people
