A man has been arrested after a BMW was stolen from a property in Stockport

Officers were called around 2.50pm on Thursday 27 May 2021 to a business premises on Priest Street, Stockport to a report of a burglary.

Enquiries have since established that the victim was unable to locate their bag whilst at work. Whilst searching for the bag they realised that their BMW X4 had also been taken from where it had been parked that morning.

An investigation was launched and following extensive CCTV enquiries a 40-year-old man was arrested this morning (Saturday 29 May) on suspicion of burglary. He remains in custody for questioning.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

The stolen BMW is believed to be linked to a fatal collision that occurred on the M60 later that evening. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has since declared an independent investigation into the collision.
