Greater Manchester Still Has Higher Infection Rate: The Latest Figures For All Boroughs

According to the latest figures of Public Health England, the figures of coronavirus cases are decreasing in almost all boroughs of Greater Manchester. Only Tameside has an upward trend and the infection rate of Tameside is the highest in the region.

Even with the decreasing figures, Greater Manchester still has a higher infection rate comparing the rest of the country. All ten boroughs of Greater Manchester have a higher coronavirus infection rate than the national average. The latest data showed that the infection rate of England is 58.6 whereas the infection rate of Greater Manchester is now 91.6.

Here is the list of the latest infection rate of all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester :

Tameside

Tameside is the only area in Greater Manchester that the infection rate of coronavirus is increasing. With an 8% increase, the infection rate of Tameside is now 113.0. According to the latest data,256 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Tameside the previous week.

Rochdale

Even 17% decrease in the figures, Rochdale has the second-highest infection rates in the region. The infection rate of Rochdale is now 112.9. Last week,251 positive coronavirus cases were recorded.

Salford

The infection rate of Salford is 105.1. There is a 3% decrease in the figures comparing the previous week. The infection rate in Salford still is relatively high that Salford has the third-highest infection rate in the region.

Bolton

272 coronavirus cases were recorded in Bolton last week that is 84 fewer than the previous week. With a 24% decrease, the infection rate of Bolton is 94.6.

Oldham

A small amount of change was reported in Oldham last week. There is only a 2% decrease in the figures. The infection rate of Oldham is 93.6  and 222 positive COVID-19 tests were reported in Oldham.

Wigan

With a 19 % decrease, the infection rate of Wigan is 93.4. Even the figures are decreasing in Wigan, the infection rate is still relatively high comparing the rest of the region.

Stockport

The infection rate of Stockport is now 88.0 cases per 100,000 population. An 8% decrease in the infection rate was reported. In just the last seven days, 261 new coronavirus cases were seen in Stockport.

Manchester

With a 15% decrease in the figures, the infection rate of Manchester is now 83.cases per 100,000 population. In the week ending March 9, 459 positive COVID-19 tests in Manchester were reported.

Bury

Bury has one of the lowest infection rates in Greater Manchester. Bury recorded the biggest drop in the infection rate with a 32% decrease last week. Now, the infection rate of Bury is 76.4.

Trafford

Trafford has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester where the infection rate is now 63.6. With a 13% decrease, fewer coronavirus cases were reported in Trafford. But the infection rates and the number of coronavirus cases are still higher than the national average.
