Trafford Council has announced a series of night-time road closures with diversions in place overnight around the junction of A56 Chester Road and Talbot Road, Stretford.
This is to allow for the creation of new cycleways, walkways and improved signalised junctions. This work is being done as carefully as possible to minimise disruption using off-peak diversions.
Between 8pm and 6am the road closures will be in place with clear diversions on the following dates, weather permitting:
- 7 May – Northbound A56 Chester Road closure in between Davyhulme Rd East and Thomas Street and junction of Longford Rd will be closed.
- 8 May and 9 May – Southbound A56 between Thomas Street and Christie Road; Christie Road closed at the junction with A56 Chester Road; Talbot Road closed between A56 Chester Rd and Talbot Ct.
- 16 May and 17 May – Northbound between Davyhulme Rd East and Thomas Street and the junction of Longford Road will be closed.
- 20 May and again on 21 May – Southbound A56 Chester Road between Thomas Street and Christie Road; Christie Road closed at the junction with A56 Chester Road; Talbot Road closed between A56 Chester Rd and Talbot Ct.
The diversion route will be Chester Road – Barton Road – Park Road – Mosley Road – Village Way – Wharfside Way and back onto Chester Road. This is reversed for traffic travelling southbound.
A Trafford Council spokesperson said: “We unfortunately need diversions in place to allow our work to be completed as soon as possible. These closures have been carefully timed to minimise impact on the travelling public. When this work is completed, there will be clear improvements. We thank members of the public for their patience.”
