Night-time champion to boost Oldham businesses with vibrant evening economy revival

A new initiative is underway in Oldham to breathe new life into the town’s evening and night-time economy. Businesses in the hospitality, entertainment, and cultural sectors, along with key public services, are joining forces to make Oldham a vibrant destination for a night out once again.

Sacha Lord, Greater Manchester’s Night Time Economy Adviser, is lending his support to Oldham’s efforts by hosting a special Evening and Night Time Economy Round Table on Friday 22 March. The goal is to bring together all interested parties to develop fresh new plans and create a unique offering for the town.

Oldham Council Leader, Cllr Arooj Shah, emphasised the importance of collaboration in revitalising the town’s night-time economy. The aim is to attract a diverse range of people back into the town centre, including families, non-drinkers, and individuals of all ages looking for a great time.

One of the proposed objectives is to achieve Purple Flag status for Oldham, an internationally-recognised accreditation for town and city centres that ensures an entertaining, diverse, and safe night out.
