Police were called to Hillside Avenue in Shaw, Oldham with the report of a concern for the welfare of a woman. After the woman was taken to the hospital, she was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. Police arrested a man on suspicion of murder.
The incident happened at around 8..50 pm on 4 May 2021 on Hillside Avenue. After the reports to the police, emergency services attended to the scene and found the body of the woman with serious injuries at a property.
Even with all efforts of the medical staff, the woman sadly was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is still in custody for questioning.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson, of GMP’s Major Investigation Team, said: “A woman has sadly lost her life tonight and our thoughts remain with her family at this incredibly difficult time.”
“This is understandably a distressing incident for local residents, and I would like to reassure the community that although we currently have a man in custody, our investigation is very much still ongoing and officers at the scene are following all available lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding this woman’s tragic death.”
