Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are holding a 26-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of murder.
In the early hours of Thursday, Alan Murphy was stabbed in the chest and arm on Whitstable Road in Moston, Manchester.
Murphy later died of his injuries in the hospital.
Mr Murphy’s family said he had a “heart of gold and would do anything for anyone”.
In a statement, they add, “Alan was a loving son, brother, and father to his young daughter.”
“He is gone but will never be forgotten.”
Previously police arrested three men on suspicion of attempted murder in the incident.
Police say they’ve released the three and that those men would face no further action over Mr Murphy’s death. (JSL).
