Two of our #Tameside officers have been praised for helping to save the life of a man they found having a heart attack in #Ashton.
PCs Green and Jones called an ambulance and commenced CPR on 29-year-old Douglas after being flagged down by members of the public while out on patrol last month.
Douglas’ pulse stopped on three occasions while emergency services and the public worked frenetically to save him before colleagues from NWAS took him to hospital to continue with treatment.
Thankfully Douglas is now back home and his mother has given her thanks to all involved in helping her son that night, saying ‘God sent angels’ that evening.
Douglas is immensely grateful for the assistance of PCs Green and Jones and the help of the public.
Sergeant Ben Marsden, of our Tameside district, said: “I’m so proud of the amazing work that PC Green and PC Jones did that night alongside members of the public in remarkable circumstances to help save Dougie.
“I wasn’t on duty on that particular night but when I returned to hear what had happened I was amazed – particularly as it soon transpired the man who they had saved was a former rugby teammate of mine.
“It goes to show what our officers are prepared to encounter and the lengths that we are prepared to go to help the public – who are ultimately someone’s friend, family or neighbour in need – whoever you are, if you need our help then we will do all we can to be there for you.”
