The Latest Infection Rates For All Boroughs Of Greater Manchester: The Figures Have Doubled In Bolton

While the government is planning to ease lockdown rules, Bolton has become a hotspot for the new Indian “variant of concern”.According to the latest figures, the number of coronavirus cases in Bolton has doubled in a week. Across Greater Manchester, the concern is increasing that similar figures can be reported for other boroughs in Greater Manchester.

The latest data showed that the total infection rate in Greater Manchester is now 43.7 cases per 100,000 population. That figure is almost double of national average that is 21.8. In Greater Manchester, a total of 1239 people tested positive in just seven days. While a high increase has been reported for Bolton, the infection rates are also increasing in Rochdale, Manchester, Stockport, and Wigan.

Here is the latest infection rate for all boroughs of Greater Manchester:

Bolton

In just one week, the infection rate in Bolton has increased by 104%. The borough has become a new hotspot for the Indian variant. According to the latest figures, the infection rate in Bolton is now 152 cases per 100,000 people that Bolton has the highest infection rate in Greater Manchester.

Rochdale

The infection rate in Rochdale has increased by 34% comparing the previous week. There were 102 positive tests over the last week in Rochdale. Rochdale has the second-highest infection rate in Greater Manchester that the infection rate in the borough is 45.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Manchester

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 38.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has increased by 14%. A total of 214 people have tested positive for COVID-19 last week in Manchester.

Salford

Salford has recorded 19 fewer cases in the previous seven days. The infection rate in Salford has decreased by 19% and now the infection rate is 30.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Trafford

The infection rate is also decreasing in Trafford. A 35% drop has been reported for Trafford comparing the previous week. Currently, Trafford’s infection rate is 29.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Stockport

Stockport is one of the boroughs in Greater Manchester that an increase has reported last week. With a rise of 35%, the infection rate in Stockport is now 28.6 cases per 100,000 people.

Wigan

With a rise of 30% in cases in Wigan, the infection rate is now 27.7 cases per 100,000 population.91 positive COVID–19 have reported in Wigan last week.

Oldham

The number of cases is down by 12% compared to the previous week in Oldham. The infection rate in the borough is now 27.4 cases per 100,000 people. That means nine fewer cases have been reported for the borough last week.

Tameside

Tameside has one of the lowest infection rates in Greater Manchester. According to the latest figures, the infection rate in Tameside is 24.7 cases per 100,000 people. The infection rate has decreased by 5% that there were a total of 56 reported cases in the borough last week.

Bury

With a 9% decrease in the infection rate, Bury now has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester. Bury is also the only borough in the region whose infection rate is below the national average. The latest data showed that the infection rate in Bury is currently 20.4 cases per 100,000 population.
