In a bid to tackle digital exclusion in Oldham, a new initiative has been launched by the local council. The Donate IT Oldham campaign aims to provide refurbished devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets to residents in need. With nearly 40% of Oldham residents reporting digital inclusion issues, the campaign seeks to collect over 500 unwanted devices by January 2025. Councillor Abdul Jabbar emphasised the importance of digital connectivity for health, careers, and social connections, particularly for vulnerable groups in the community. Oldham Council is leading by example by donating over 300 devices to the scheme. To learn more about how you can donate and support the campaign, visit www.oldham.gov.uk/DonateIT.
