GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit Seeks Information After Road Traffic Collision in Wigan

Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Wigan.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.15pm on Tuesday, 1st August 2023, when an e-bike collided with a pedestrian crossing Orrell Road.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The two individuals riding the e-bike suffered minor injuries.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, were both arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The 20-year-old has been released on bail, while the 19-year-old remains in police custody.

Investigators are now urging anyone with information about the incident, or those who might have dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the time of the collision, to come forward and assist with the investigation.
