After a man was fatally stabbed in Oldham, a man and a woman have been arrested. A 25-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were called on Wednesday 26 May after 5.05 with a report of disturbance of a group of men on Fifth Avenue, Oldham. Emergency services attended to the scene and a 25-year-old man pronıunced dead.
Officers recovered a bladed weapon at the scene. Initial enquiries established that a blue Vauxhall Corsa pulled onto Fifth Avenue and a group of men who are armed with knives and machetes exited the vehicle before causing damage to the property.
A 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Enquiries are ongoing. Officers are looking for witnesses to the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Butterworth, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “Our investigation is progressing at speed but we are confident there are people out there who are holding the information that could greatly assist our enquiries.”
“This incident occurred in a built-up residential area, in broad daylight, so we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen a group of people behaving suspiciously in the area at the time, or have dash-cam footage, to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”
“Any information, no matter how small or insignificant you feel it may be, could be vital in ensuring we identify and bring the responsible party to justice.”
