Coronavirus Infection Rates Continue To Increase: Latest Figures Across Greater Manchester

The coronavirus infection rate started to decrease in Bolton but other boroughs are still seeing big rises. According to the latest figures, a total of 3523 people tested positive for coronavirus last week in Greater Manchester.

Due to increasing infection rates, there is currently a public debate between scientists and the government on lifting restrictions on June 21. Scientists believed that more restrictions should be applied to overcome high infection rates.

Here are the latest infection rates across Greater Manchester : 

Bolton

Bolton still has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. Currently, the infection rate in Bolton is 371.8 cases per population. The infection rate is down by 18% compared with the previous week. 1069 positive COVID-19 tests were reported in Bolton last week.

Manchester

 With an 89% increase in the infection rate, Manchester has now the second-highest infection rate in the region. According to the latest data, the infection rate in Manchester is 125.3 cases per 100,000 people.

Salford

The latest infection rate in Salford is 123.2 cases per 100,000 people. The cases have been doubled compared to the previous week. According to the latest figures, the infection rate in Salford has increased by 198 %.

Bury

A total of 235 people tested positive for coronavirus last week in Bury. The infection rate has increase b 88% compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Bury is 123 cases per population.

Rochdale

 In Rochdale, there was a 207 positive COVID-19 test last week. The latest infection rate is 93.1 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in Rochdale has increased by 78% compared to the previous week.

Wigan

With a rise of 82%, the latest infection rate in Wigan is 85.5 cases per 100,000 population. A total of 281 tested positive for coronavirus last week. 

Stockport

The infection rate in Stockport has continued to increase by 285 %. The infection rate in Stockport is now 80.1 cases per population. There were 235 positive cases for coronavirus in the last seven days in Stockport.

Oldham

Cases in Oldham has increased by 127 % compared to the previous week. The infection rate in Oldham is currently 75.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Trafford

The latest infection rate in Trafford is 73.3 cases per 100,000 population.174 positive cases were reported last week in the borough. The latest data showed that the infection rate in Trafford has increased by 37%. 

Tameside

Tameside has the lowest infection rate in Greater Manchester. With a rise of 147 %, the infection rate is now 57.8 cases per 100,000 population. In the last seven days,131 positive cases for coronavirus have been reported.
