A 33-year-old woman died tragically in a road traffic collision on the M66. A 31-year-old man who is also at the vehicle suffered serious injuries. Enquires on the collision are ongoing.
Officers were called to the scene at around 1.15 pm on 8 May 2021. Initial enquires established that a vehicle had left the motorway between junctions four and five northbound and then collided with a tree. Sadly, a 33-year-old woman died at the scene. A 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Enquires are ongoing.PC Jody Oakley, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family who are all understandably distressed and devastated following this collision.”
