City to face Everton in next Round of FA Cup

FA Cup quarter-finals to be played weekend of March 20

Manchester City will travel to Goodison Park for the next round of the FA Cup.

Everton is the only Premier League side the Sky Blues haven’t faced so far this season, but they’ll be seeing them often in the next few weeks. These sides will play each other next Wednesday in Premier League play from Goodison Park.

City got to the last eight of this competition by defeating Swansea 3-1.

Meanwhile, the Toffees won a thriller yesterday 5-4 in extra-time over Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola’s side is on a 15 match win streak the longest run of any top-flight side in English history.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team is fighting for a place in Europe next season. They’re just a point behind Chelsea for a spot in the Europa League. They’re two points back of Liverpool for a Champions League place.

Thirteen points currently separate these teams in the standings heading into this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

City’s won the last five matchups against the Toffees dating back to 2018. It’s been quite some time since they’ve faced each other in the FA Cup.

On March 7, 1981, it was a quarter-final encounter at Goodison Park which ended in a 2-2 draw. City won the replay four days later by a score of 3-1. A draw this time around would force extra-time and possibly penalties.

The official date and time of the quarter-finals have yet to be determined. The matches will take place the weekend of March 20. (JSL).
