Rochdale residents aged 60 and over eligible for grants of up to £300

The Norman Barnes Fund, a registered charity managed by Rochdale Borough Council, offers financial aid to individuals aged 60 and over in Rochdale, Castleton, Norden, and Bamford. This assistance can be used towards purchasing household items like fridges, cookers, carpets, and furniture, as well as for essential home repairs and decorating. It can also be used for a healing holiday or for expenses when visiting friends and family. Additionally, organisations working to benefit older people can also apply for assistance.

The fund was set up with the welfare of the elderly in mind, and applications are accepted throughout the year with no specific deadline, although only one grant per year is awarded to each individual or organisation.

In this time of rising living costs, there are various forms of help and support available to ease the financial burden on households.
