Food Hall: Numerous traders vie for their spot at Bolton’s latest culinary destination

The Bolton Market Food Hall had its inaugural busy day of the year as over 70 potential food traders explored the venue during a special open day event. Thanks to funding from the government’s Towns Fund, this exciting new establishment is situated in the heart of a thriving new town centre neighbourhood.

A multitude of interested business owners, both established traders and fresh faces, inspected nine catering units that serve a communal dining area accommodating 192 customers. On the day, more than 50 food and drink businesses expressed genuine interest, further adding to the significant number already on the waiting list.

The final selection of traders will be announced prior to the Spring opening, with careful consideration given to each business case in order to provide a diverse range of options for customers.

According to a statement from an official, “This modern and adaptable hospitality venue is already proving to be incredibly popular… I am confident that this was just the beginning of many bustling days for our new food hall.”

Traders will receive support from the renowned team behind Bolton Market and the Bolton Food and Drink Festival. Additional benefits include access to a communal pot wash service, live entertainment, televised sports, and extended opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

The new food hall venue is part of a broader £5.59m transformation of Bolton Market, which has received backing from the Towns Fund. This fund has also contributed to the development of Elizabeth Park, the refurbished Central Library, and the upcoming Wellsprings innovation hub for technology start-ups.

Cllr Akhtar Zaman, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Regeneration, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This modern and adaptable hospitality venue is already proving to be very popular, with over 70 potential traders visiting in just a few hours yesterday. With the Moor Lane development, major cultural venues, and large office buildings nearby, I am confident that this was just the beginning of many bustling days for our new food hall. Entertainment, live sports, and an exciting program of events at the nearby Elizabeth Park will contribute to making the hall a popular destination for students, families, and visitors of all ages.”

Traders still have the opportunity to register their interest in acquiring a unit by emailing [email protected] for more details.
