Two guns found in abandoned car in Trafford as investigation begins

We’re continuing to rid lethal weapons from our streets as we’re taking action on information received from the public.

Yesterday (22 September) officers from our Serious Organised Crime Firearms Investigation Team found two guns after we identified a stolen Citreon car parked in Stretford.

The weapons have been forensically recovered and will be assessed to see if they are linked to any previous incidents involving guns.

So far in 2022, we have recovered 53 guns and another 150 that were handed in during a three-week campaign back in May.

We’re encourage that our affront on organised crime is seeing shootings go in a downwards direction with discharges decreasing by 25% last year, and the number continues to fall.

Our work relies on knowledge that we receive from our communities and anyone with concerns or information should pass to us in confidence knowing that we will take action on any viable leads.

You can get in touch via our LiveChat facility or by calling 101.

Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
