Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, but a scene remains in place whilst specialist officers conduct searches of the area.
No arrests have been made at this stage, but police are following several lines of enquiry to understand the circumstances.
Police are now appealing to the public for information. If you were in the area at that time yesterday, and perhaps saw something, please get in touch. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the area.
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern of the North Manchester district said: “We have a number of additional officers in the area to offer support to the community whilst we build a detailed timeline of events which led to this incident.
“Luckily, there has been no reported injuries from this incident, however, the actions of those involved has put the public at risk, and anyone carrying or discharging a firearm within our communities will be investigated.
