A Fiat Punto was involved in a collision with a BMW and the other two parked cars at around 1.10 am this morning. The collision happened on Wellington Road North near the junction of Crossley Road.
After the collision, a man who is believed to be aged in his 20s is sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Two men who were in the BMW were treated by paramedics for minor injuries.
The road that is on the A6 was closed for safety and investigation. Inspector Daniel Byrne, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Sadly a man has lost his life as a result of this collision. Our thoughts remain with his family.”
“Road closures are currently in place on the A6 whilst enquiries remain ongoing. It is advised that commuters avoid the area where possible and instead use alternative routes. We thank the public for their patience as we deal with this incident.”
