On Saturday 24 August, fake designer clothes, watches, trainers, perfumes, cigarettes, tobacco, and vapes with a combined street value of £2 million pounds were seized in the joint operation by trading standards and Greater Manchester Police from a premises on Market Street, Farnworth.
After receiving information from members of the public that counterfeit goods were being sold, police and trading standards attended the premises where they uncovered the fake goods.
The goods were seized and trading standards are continuing with the investigation.
Cllr Sue Haworth, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services said:
“This is a fantastic result for our trading standards team and an example of great partnership work with the police.
“Fake products may seem harmless but they are often sold by groups linked to organised crime.
“It’s also worth remembering fake cosmetics and tobacco products are not regulated and can be harmful to health.
“We will continue to work with the police to stamp out this illegal trading in Bolton to protect the public and those businesses who trade legally.”
